Write It Down!
I am a writer, so this isn’t an issue for me. I have been filling journals for years and recommend everyone keep one and try to write a daily entry. You will be surprised how quickly your thoughts take over and you are making it a welcome habit. Along with making your dreams come to life, writing them down is a calming action. Dump your troubles and you will find they become less stressful.
Back to making changes, try a tactic that works for me. Start a pro-con list. In two columns, list the Pro side of the change and on the opposite column list the Cons. Then assess the weight of making the change on whether the pros are more important than the cons.
Here is an example: on the upside of taking a job offer is an increase and on the downside is a greater commute. Then figure out if the raise is what you were really looking for and how much the new commute would affect your life. For each proposed change there will be several pros and cons, so try hard to judge them carefully. Take some time with it and if you have a partner to consider you might choose to include them. However, if it is a change that is about you solely don’t ask for an opinion that might sway you. Trust your gut.
All change, no matter how small, can be difficult. It is right to devote your energy and time to making the right choice. Once you decide, write down the decision. And add reminders in your spaces, like sticky notes to your mirror!
Again, write it down.
